Our Mission

KYPaleo was built by two Ignite Institute students who wanted to bring Kentucky’s prehistoric world to life. Our mission is to create a resource that’s simple, accurate, and fun to explore, a place where anyone can learn about the fossils found across the state and discover why Big Bone Lick State Park is such an important landmark in American science.

What We Do

we research and break down Kentucky’s prehistoric past in a way that’s easy to understand. Our work focuses on identifying the most common fossil species found across the state and explaining what they can tell us about ancient environments. Each fossil page includes sections on physical traits, lifestyle, habitat, diet, and extinction so readers can get a full picture of the organisms that once lived here.
